The Spectacular Now

Stars Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller
The Spectacular Now is a National Book Award Finalist by Tim Tharp, and now a major motion picture. Sutter is a reckless senior. He's the guy you want to see at your party. He'll get everyone dancing. He'll get everyone in your parent's pool. He maybe the life of the party but he is no star in school. He's not exactly a shining academic star. He doesn't know what he's going to do with his future, he wants to live in the "now." When he wakes up on a random front lawn, he meets a girl named Aimee. Aimee is a social-disaster.  Aimee needs help, and it’s up to Sutter to show Aimee a wonderful time and then let her go forth and prosper. But Aimee’s not like other girls, and before long he’s in way over his head. For the first time in his life, he has the power to make a difference in someone else’s life—or ruin it forever. In my opinion the movie was spectacular. It showed the true life of the average teenager, the parties, the problems, the confusion of your future, and the romance. It's a movie worth seeing.

The Spectacular Now is on DVD and Blue-ray.

Perks: A Coming-of-Age Story

**Although this movie was released over a year ago,
it is still definitely a awesome movie
to see and has to be one
of my favorite books to become a movie.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Based on the #1 New York Times Bestseller by   Stephen Chbosky, this story is not one that you come around often. First published in the year 1999, The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a tale that follows Charlie (Logan Lerman), a misunderstood 15-year-old, through his first year of  high school. This coming-of-age story describes "the uncharted territory of high school. The world of first dates, family dramas, and new friends. of sex, drugs, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Of those wild and poignant roller-coaster days known as growing up." [quote from summary on back] All while coping with his first love, Sam (Emma Watson), the suicide of his best friend, and his own mental illness. The freshman is taken under the wings of two seniors, Sam and Patrick (Ezra Miller), who welcome him to the real world.

** All award-winning actors

The Hobbit, Desolation of Smaug

The dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf the Grey, continue their quest to reclaim Erebor, their homeland, from Smaug. Bilbo Baggins is in possession of a mysterious and magical ring.
The film is set in Middle-earth sixty years before the events of The Lord of the Rings, and portions of the film are adapted from the appendices to Tolkien's The Return of the King. The wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen) investigates a growing evil at Dol Guldur, while Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) continues his quest with thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage), to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug (Benedict Cumberbatch).

Fallen: Another Supernatural Romance

Fallen

This bestseller by Lauren Kate is a story about a teenage girl who is sent to reform school, where she just so happens to meet the (supernatural) love of her life. You can compare it to many other supernatural love stories like Twilight or City of Bones, but you'll just have to wait and see to find out if its better, for yourself. Although this movie comes to life next year (2015), it is definitely one to be anticipating for.

NO MOVIE TRAILER YET

The Giver
Fans of the 1993 novel The Giver finally got a glimpse at the highly anticipated movie adaptation when a brief trailer premiered on the Today Show.

The beloved story by Lois Lowry focuses on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly Utopian society, without war, pain, suffering or difference. Yet Jonah’s world is thrown upside down when he’s selected by the community to absorb the memories of the Giver, an elderly man who alone knows the true pain that life has to offer. The book has long been a YA favorite and there’s no doubt the movie adaptation will be a big event, with Brenton Thwaites playing Jonas and Jeff Bridges playing the Giver.

The brief trailer promises a film that’s packed with action and sinister revelations, with a voice-over from Meryl Streep (who stars as the Chief Elder) and ominous warnings from Bridges.
